More about Evil…

-
Our fate (where we are born, what kind of potential (talent) we are born with)
-
Our free will (how do we choose, see opportunities, how we use our talents, what kind of attitude we choose, etc.)
Religion is a path paved with good intentions for those who believe there is a shortcut to Heaven (to happiness). Well, this is wrong. Life is about balance and for every smile there will be a tear, if not in this life - in the next one.
I have tried all my life to explain the world to myself. Neither science nor religion have given me the truth, but both were signs on the road to the truth - to my truth. The truth is in the middle. It is neither black or white. Here you can see how I pictured part of the truth - like the tree of life with roots as deep down in darkness as high the crown reaches the light. These drawings are some of the illustrations in my book Lina Ballerina & the Demons. The ideas are not originally mine. I have redrawn artwork I have seen. I am honest about that because I have some troubles drawing from fantasy only.

I promised to answer some questions about Evil. Yet I found the answers partly in philosophy, partly in science but I did not buy them before my own experience confirmed their correctness.
Are some humans born evil?
Yes, some are born evil.
What is EVIL?
-
Enjoying other creatures suffering intentionally or not is evil. No matter good or bad intentions, causing suffering to others is pure evil. If inevitable self-defence is not enjoyed it might be justified as nonevil but on the verge. (Example: You killed the man who tried to kill you or your child. You did not enjoy it. You had to do that to survive. This is not evil)
-
By correcting others' evil actions through punishment and judging others individual choices we become evil outselves. The harder the punishment (more sadistic) the greater the evil. Many sadists choose to work in authorities where they enjoy being evil in the name of the law - police, prison, hospitals, school, army, all kinds of hierarchical institutions where power abuse is possible.
-
Lack of empathy and conscience.
- Manipulation of the will is evil.
Yes, some humans are born evil. There are two types of people who are born with the physical (biological) inability to experience empathy and do not possess conscience. The first type is some people with multiple diseases and disabilies. Such people often can not survive without daily help from their families or the health-care system. Those individuals do not harm intentionally. They are just unable to understand. But is disability and lack of understanding less evil? How much harm can we excuse with the disability? I don't want to give a straight andwer here.
See the masterwork-movie The Village and think about the mentally disabled guy and how evil is born within the little society no matter how much they try to eliminate it.
The other type of evil contains the individuals who might have the biochemical ability to experience empathy and conscience but never developed this ability. Some can not develop it, others are raised with too limited choices. I believe this is karma (destiny) with a higher goal.
Very rich and successful people often develop an unhealthy ego that they are somehow the chosen ones in life. The more they have, the more they wish. When every item of material wealth is available, enhancing control over others and the whole world is an option. Such evil individuals are intelligent and manipulative and can start wars and decide the fate of nations. So evil has many faces - from the disabled but not harmless madman to the corporative and the political rulers of the world.
If we all have evil within us - is it a matter of choice to be evil?
-
In all other cases where we possess a biological ability for experiencing empathy and conscience. So in all those cases the answer is yes - evil is a choice. No matter how limited your choice is - you always have a choice. Let us have a classical example - Jesus on the cross. He had a choice when he was dying nailed at the cross. His could choose the attitude to his fate. So can we.
Is there a turning point in life when we must face the evil within us?
-
Yes, we have lessons to learn in life. They are similar for the many but yet individual and unique at the same time. A lesson everyone has to learn is to face the evil within him or her - their dark side. Another lesson for everyone is to balance their ego which means learning humbleness - how to love and understand. Some individuals have very little part of their lifetime to learn this lesson, while others struggle all life long and need many lives for the sould to be reborn and develop. The last ones might have violent and tragic destinies but they have a choice as well. You might take two brothers with the same social situation and genetic material but one of them is in jail, the other one has a peaceful life. Such stories as examples are available on every street on earth and they prove that almost everyone can choose to be evil or not.
My conclusion is that no matter how much we try to keep away from evil (like in the holy books), we have to face evil anyway. This is a metaphysical natural law.
If we imagine an utopian society where evil does not exist, nobody will be able to experience happiness. The human mind is designed (according to me by an intelligent creator) to react to contrasts. Without the contrast of evil, we are not able to understand or appreciate good. The mechanism of comparing contrasts is the secret between the metaphysical laws of balance and attraction.
In my coming book The Door there are a few pages where I explain the metaphysical laws of balance and attraction. Do you find it interesting? Drop me a mail or write a comment to show your interest.
You might wonder what helped me to connect the missing dots between science and religion?...
